Privacy policy

What this site collects, what it never collects, and exactly which third parties are involved.

The short version

Convertly does not ask you to create an account, and it does not store the amounts, text, measurements or passwords you put into its tools. Nearly every calculation happens inside your own browser and never reaches a server at all.

The site is free because it shows advertising through Google AdSense, and advertising uses cookies. That is the main way information about you is involved here, and this page explains exactly what that means.

What we collect

We run no analytics software. There is no Google Analytics, no Microsoft Clarity, no heatmaps and no session recording on this site. That is a deliberate choice, not an oversight — we considered adding visitor analytics and decided against it.

What we do see is the ordinary server-side traffic information that any website receives simply by being visited, handled by our content delivery network: which pages were requested, roughly which country the request came from, and aggregate totals. It is not tied to a profile of you, and it sets nothing on your device.

What you type into the tools

This is the part most people care about, so it is worth being specific. The following never leaves your device:

  • The height, weight and age you enter into the BMI calculator
  • Any text you paste into the word counter or the text tools
  • Passwords generated by the utility tools
  • The numbers you enter into any converter or calculator

These tools are written in JavaScript that runs inside your browser. The calculation is performed on your own machine and the result is displayed there. No copy is transmitted to us, because none is needed.

One exception worth knowing about. The currency and crypto converters need live market rates, so they request a current rate table from an external provider. That request asks for rates in general — it does not tell the provider what amount you are converting. Your figure stays in your browser; only the exchange rate travels.

Cookies and advertising

Convertly is funded entirely by advertising through Google AdSense. There is no paid tier, no paywall, and we do not sell personal information.

Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. Google also operates the consent message you may have seen on your first visit, and it stores your response in a cookie so it does not have to ask you again on every page.

Our content delivery network may also set strictly necessary cookies for security purposes — for example to distinguish genuine visitors from automated traffic. These are not used for advertising or tracking.

Third-party services

These are every external service a Convertly page contacts. Each has its own privacy policy, and we have no control over how they handle data once a request reaches them.

ServiceWhy it is used
Google AdSense Displays the advertising that funds the site. May set cookies for ad serving, measurement and personalisation.
Google Privacy & Messaging Shows the advertising consent message and records your choice.
Google Fonts Supplies the typefaces the site is set in.
ER-API Provides live exchange rates for the currency converter.
CoinGecko Provides live cryptocurrency prices for the crypto converter.
Cloudflare Delivers and protects the site. Processes requests and may set strictly necessary security cookies.

Your choices

  • Manage or switch off personalised advertising in your Google account at My Ad Center, and read how Google uses advertising data at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools themselves will continue to work.
  • Use a content blocker if you prefer. We would rather you saw the ads, but nothing here will nag you about it.
  • Email us if you want to ask what, if anything, is held about you.

Children

Convertly is a general-audience site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The BMI calculator includes child and teen percentiles because parents and clinicians need them — but as with every tool here, the figures entered are processed in the browser and never stored.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top of this page will change with it. We would rather keep this document short and true than long and ignored, so it is reviewed whenever the site gains a feature that touches data.
